Location:The Gulmi District is one of 75 districts in Nepal and one of the six districts of Lumbini Zone. It lies in the hill region in the western part of the country. The District is bounded on west by Pyuthan District, on the east by Syangja District, on the north by Baglung District, and on the south by Arghakanchi, and Palpa Districts. It’s length is about 40km and wide 30km. It is about 465meter to 2690meter from the sea level.This District covers an area of 107,919 hectares and is divided in to 79 village Development Committees. The District Headquarters is at Tamghas. According to geographical structure this District is divided in to two parts.a) Hilly Partb) Besi PartIn Hilly part there are higher peak like Resunga, Thaple lek, Marbhung lek and Wamidaha lek. Etc. Under Besi part Ridi, Khaireni, Chorkate, Majuwa, Wami taxar. Etc.The Gulmi District is also one of 15 districts included in the Western Development Region. Daungha is one of these villages, situated about 26 km southeast of the District Headquarters at Tamghas. Among them Barhamans are highest in number and the second ranks goes to Ksherti. In this District there is male dominate society but these they started to give a little bit opportunity to female.Economical Condition of the people.The economical source of Gulmi District is agriculture about 90% people are depending upon agriculture rest 10% people are on job, trade and other occupation. The roofs are slate, tin, and in minor number grass. In Besi or vally there day modern concret housr are also developed. People are having their major foods Bhata, Dal, Roti, Tarkari, Aato, Dhindo, etc. Milk and ghee are know as nutritions food here.There are some permanant culturein our people they are:Nwaran, Pasni (Bhat Khuwai) choodakarm, Bartabandha, Marriage and financial procession etc.People are celebrating Dashian, Tihar, Teej, Maghesakaarnti, Saoonesakarrti, Janaipurnima etc. According to festival different varities foods are taken in Thir they are taking Roti, different fruits, meat, in Teej specially woman are fasting for their husbandand privious day they are eating ghee, dar (rice pudding) in Magh khichadi, roti and tarul(yam) is taken.Weather change in GulmiNormally this District has mild climates. In Besi side from April to nJune there is hot but it’s tempature Never goes more than 30 . October to February there is very cold. The district has three types of climate:• sub:tropical• mild-temperature• cool-temperatre .The temperature varies from an average minimum of 14.80 c in the winter to an average maximum of 23.30 c in the summer .The average annual rainfall is 1,516.6 ml.Rivers:The major river Kaligandaki comes from across the himalayas and other Badigadh ,Challikkhola , Nisti,Hugdi,Ridi, Daram and Panaha comes from hills.There is no any accountable lake or pond in the district.Land use :Of the land area 50.2 percent (54,178 ha) is agricultre land, 29.2 percent (31,468 ha) is under cultivation , 21.0 percent (22,710 ha ) is no-cultivate alnd, 11.1 percent (11,964 ha ) is grass land, 37.7 percent (40664 ha ) is forest, and reamning 1.0 percent (1,113ha ) is covered by sand , gravel,boulder,and water bodies. It is the brave parental house of brave Raj Rajeshwori, the queen consort of His majesty King Rana Bahadur Saha. Prior to the unification of Nepal . Charpala was a big and powerful princely state. Situated in the existing Darbar Devisthan V.D.C. Charpala played a vital role in the naming of the present Gulmi district. Still extant in Charpal are old weapons and the metal image of goddess Bhagwati. Daily offerings are made here. Lying in the premises of the palace, those courtyards have their own unique historical place. Charpala lies in the distance of 6 K.M south east of the headquarters of Tamghas. Charpal has now become accessible to motorable roads. Established in B.S. 1493 this state was dovetailed in to Nepal in the year 1863.Musikot Rajya:- It is also one of the princely states. Musikot is a home to the temple of khadagdevi, kotaGhar and many other things of historical significance. Because of the temple of khadagdevi, kota is also known as the darbar-koti. On the occasion of Bada Dashain and chaite Dushain, goddess Durga is worshipped with gusto and enthusiasm. Situated in the musikot V.D.C. Koti is perched on the peak. This peak lies in the distance of 5 kosh north-east of Tamghas . This rajya emerged in the year 1550 BC which was embedded in Nepal in 1843.Isma Rajya:- It is also known as a princely state. The capital of this state was situated in the existing .Isma V.D.C..Different weapons of the then, king of Isma are still preserved and in tact in the house of weapon. Bada Dashain and Chaite Dashain are celebrated worshipping the goddess kali. Lying 5 kosh North-east of Tamghas,Isma is now accessible to motorists. Created in 1550BS, it was merged in Nepal in the year 1843.Dhurkot Rajya:- Also a princely state, Dhurkot is named after a peak which has the shape of pyramid.This state falls in the present Dhurkot Rajasthal V.D.C. The kot of this place is thronged by a lot of people who assemble here to celebrate such holy and religious occasions as Badadashain and chaitedashain. Five kosh south of Tamghas, Dhurkot can be reached by vehicles. Being in the womb of oblivion, an awe- inspiring cave has been recently found out. Established in 1465 BS this state was subsumed in Nepal in 1843.Ruru chettra:- Seated 11 and 5kosh away from Tamghas and Tansen respectively, Ruru is one of the four of holiest places along the Ganga-born Bishnu Gandasthal. Kali Gandhaki is the only one river where the rare, eminent and god- like shaligran can be found . Situated at the confluence of the rivers kali Gandhakati & Ridi, Ruru is an ancient holy place, Lying on the Tansen- Tamghas section of motor road, Ridi is a point of entry for Gulmi. A virgin named Ruru practised austeries in this same place which had been a place of penance for such sages as Dev Dutta, Bhrigu, and pravriti.A confluence of two rivers, three districts and two zones, Guru has religious and historical importance. The tourist- importance of this place can hardly be overemphasized. The famous Hrishikesh temple lies in palpa district. Other principal temples include the Ruru – kanya mandir , the Danbhukteshor Mandir, sontyashwor Mandir and Manimukundeshwor Mandir. Hanuman – shila , kamal- pokhari- cvme, Bhrigutungeshwor and Galful came are the places of tourist spots. Haribodhani Ekadashi and the first day of Magh are celebrated, and religious fair is also held.Rudrabani :- Situated at the confluence of the Kali Gandaki and Rudrawati , Rudrabani is a holy place.Originating from the Rudralake, Rudrawati or Badigarlh is the biggest of the rivers flowing in Gulmi.Sundar Ashram is seated in Rudrabani. There is a Ram Mandir of exquisite beauty; where religious ritual is performed without fail. A religious fair is held on the auspicious occasion of Ram Nawami.Shringa:- West of Ruru region , Shringa- hermitage lies in Baletaxar VDC. From the heritage,one can drink the exotic and panaromic view of the snow-capped mountain ranges. Legend says that Shringa used to be the hermitage of the sage Hrishi. It is still inhabited by saints and hermits. It also houses the temple of Narmadeshwor Mahadev.Marbhung malika:- Perched on the highest peak of Gulmi, Malika sthan is 11kosh west of Tamghas. It abounds in rich spots of scenic beauty. Marbhung is a shelter to the rare herbs . The endengered flora and fauna and many aother precious vegetations. People congregate to malikadevi Mandir and seek divine favour fromo the goddess. On the occasion of Baisakhe- purnima (full moon in the month of Baisakh) and kojagarta- purnima, image- stone of the goddess is worshippepd.Kurga Malika:- Five kosh away from the Gulmi headquaters lies kurga malika, which is the perennial source of natural spring. There is a temple here known as the Malika Mandir. Legend has it that the goddess is deaf. The devotee is supposed to shout to see divine favours. Malika to seek favours. It is believed that the goddess fulfills all the desires of the visitors provided they should please her. This is a shaktipeeth. A big religious fair is held on the occasion of kartike – vibhuk- purnima.Dibhrung:- Situated in the distance of 6 kosh from Tamghas, the holy place Dibhrung lies in the Dibhrung V.D.C. under Region number 1. It is a holy religion place. Apart from ancient khadak mandir, pond and Dibhrung mandir , an imposing Dibhrung Dharmadwari lokeshwore Hermitage constructed by swami parmamanda swami also lies in this place.The principal agricultural products of gulmi are coffee, ginger and orange. Gulmi is the pioneer district in the production of coffee. Aapchaur and 33 neighbouring V.D.Cs. are renowned for commercial cultivation of coffee. The coffee of Gulmi meets the international standard, and it is exported to Japan.Next to coffee, another agricultural product is ginger. Among the place where gingers is cultivated. cultivated for commercial purpose are Deegam, Johang,Ghamir , Thanpati and Hunga. From these places ginger is sent to such market places as palpa, Butwal and to other Indian market places.Nayagaon, peepal Dhar, Hadhade and Arkhale are famous for orange. The nearest market place for this product is Tamghas. Other places are Tansen and Butwal.
